American West genuine leather handbags and accessories are sold in boutiques and Western department stores throughout the USA, as well as through many retailers on-line. To find the nearest Authorized American West dealer, go to “Find a store” at the bottom of the Home page. All American West products are available for special order through an Authorized dealer. We will ship the item directly to your home.

How are the tooling patterns made in the leather?

All of our tooling patterns are created by individual craftsmen using mallets and small tooling dies to create their intricate artwork on the leather. Each tooled product is the culmination of thousands of individual die strikes. Unlike die pressed patterns, small inconsistencies and changes are the proof of our artisans at work.

How do I clean my American West leather product?

Due to the delicate nature of leather, we only recommend using a damp soft cloth to clean and or a leather conditioner. Test a small spot on the bottom of your bag to test for color rub-off that might occur from some conditioners. Leather is a natural product and colors and textures may change over time. Like your own delicate skin, your leather accessory will benefit from regular cleaning and conditioning.

Please note that many type of stains and marks are untreatable. This includes, but is not limited to, stains caused by: ink, cosmetics, food stains, oils, milk, body / hand moisturizers, hand sanitizing cleansers or perfumes. However, many oil-based marks will disappear with time as the leather absorbs the moisture.

Hardware: Since silver has a natural tendency to tarnish (oxidize) and scratch, we have protected it with a layer of lacquer. Do not use any abrasive materials to clean your hardware as it may damage the protective finish.

Cleaning suggestions: To clean your silver ornaments, simply buff with a clean, soft cloth. Do not use any silver cleaners, jewelry cleaners, or chemicals (this includes jewelry cloths that are treated with chemical solutions).
